Milk-a-what?.....

One of my favorite things about The View is that the ladies pull no punches when discussing Hot Topics! The show has been very consistent in covering ALL topics of interest, not just the topics that are relevant to them. It is probably safe to say that the majority of the audience who watches The View are probably in the age range of late 20’s and up. Many of the women watching are Stay-at-home Moms looking for some adult banter to fill up their morning. I seriously doubt that most of the women at home watching The View are sitting on the edge of their seats waiting for news of the latest Lindsay Lohan sighting, but the troublesome Ms. Lohan appeared on the scene out of thin air, to speak out against an E*Trade commercial that she claims is poking fun at her by having a baby named Lindsay appear who is accused of being a “Milk-a-holic”. The panel could not resist showing a clip of the E*Trade commercial in question. The common consensus of the panel members…..hilarious and worthy of eye rolling and lip smacking.

As controversial as it may seem, the ladies also discussed “the history of the menstrual cycle”. It is refreshing to see that women can now discuss facts of life without being censored. When I was growing up, the words ‘menstrual cycle’ were almost equivalent to the words ‘sex addict’. People were so ashamed and reluctant to discuss the issue on television. In the early 1900’s, people were told that a woman’s period makes her mentally unstable, and because of that, she shouldn’t be given the right to vote. With our teenagers becoming more promiscuous at such an early age, discussion of a very important aspect of a woman’s life is absolutely necessary. So many women have had to endure growing up with little or no information about their bodies, and the changes that take place as we grow into adulthood. For years, women were taught that it was okay for them to be treated like they had the plague when in fact they were only dealing with a fact of life that occurred once a month. As we move into 2010, it is refreshing to be able to discuss something so important in our lives, and dispel many of the rumors associated with hormonal growth. I sincerely hope that women and men raising their children will start to inform their kids about their bodies at a younger age regardless of their gender. As embarrassing as it may be, my husband and I have discussed the affects of hormones with our 12 year old. We both felt that it was important that he understood his body, as well as a woman’s body. With the knowledge that he now has, he is less prone to making mistakes as a result of being uninformed. He is now very well aware of how babies are brought to this earth, and understands the risks involved in premarital sex at an early age. Perhaps the whole tiff between Lindsay Lohan and E*trade can be blamed on hormonal stress as well. We all know how irritable we can be during “that time of the month”. Let’s give Lindsay another week or two, and maybe she’ll cut our little milk-a-holic scene stealer some slack.

Tomorrow on The View watch Elton John as he weighs in on 'Hot Topics' with the ladies.

I am a participant in a Mom Central campaign for ABC Daytime and will receive a tote bag or other The View branded items to facilitate my review

Hi Eve! Man. I can't believe how long it's been since I had a moment to blog hop. Yours is looking good! Love the beach scene!

I told my son what was what when he turned 9 last year. We can't afford to pretend like nothing affects our kids or they don't hear things on the bus stop. He asked asked much since then so I guess he's satisfied for now.

Love those E-Trade babies! But when the Old Spice guy came on the scene, those babies got some serious competition! LOL!
