Somewhere between Tequila shots and Collection Plates

...that's where you'll find me. Might sound strange, but hey-I AM strange. I think I look at the world in a different light. I have never really fit into one particular mold. In fact, most people are surprised at what they find when they tap the surface of Eve's core.

I have experienced some of God's greatest miracles. I am a living testimony. I am amazed every single day when I wake up that I did not turn into "Ned the Wine-o" or "Smokey" from Friday in order to escape my sorrows. I guess my family's church background keeps me on solid ground and allows me to snap back into reality when things go astray.

When I was a teenager my family moved to the Bible Belt. Soon after I found myself waist-deep in Revivals, Vacation Bible School, and choir practice. To this day, I really enjoy a good church service. But I am no prude by any means. In fact, I sometimes find myself on more solid ground when I'm not attending regular service. I am real funny about where I receive my Word. I don't believe every Pastor has my best interests at heart. I go with what I know and trust my gut.Of course not attending regular Sunday services makes you a HEATHEN in the Bible Belt. I may as well be a 'man on fire'. I am amazed at the stares and sideways glances I get sometimes when people realize that I am a "free spirit". I think I'll start introducing myself saying:

"Hi, I'm Eve. Your Lady of the Evening. What's your pleasure?"
They seem to already have me pegged, so I may as well give them something to talk about.

Funny that the people doing the talking are the same ones sharing a bottle of Sauvigion at my Thursday night wine tastings. Hmmm...

So, I guess there is no place to put me. I'm neither left nor right; just smack dab in the middle. Only around here there is no Middle. So I guess I'll stay on the other end guarding the Tequila and the Collection Plates.

Community is a good thing; a great thing. But it easily degenerates into herdism, and most often does. Mores, taboos, traditions ... all must be constantly examined and prepared to be rejected at any time should that herdism raise its head. But where in America is such an enlightened place--?

I think most people are more in the middle then they admit. I feel the same as you and it is great you are honest with yourself and everyone else.
